Surgent Studios revealed its debut game Tales of Kenzera: Zau at 2023’s edition of The Game Awards. The 2.5-D side-scrolling metroidvania game explores grief through its puzzles, action and boss battles.

Abubakar Salim, the voice of Bayek in Assassin’s Creed Origins, founded Surgent Studios and is voicing Tales of Kenzera’s protagonist, Zau. The title will be published by Electronic Arts through its EA Original Program. Additionally, Tales of Kenzera will have some support from Critical Role.

Tales of Kenzera: Zau will launch for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch and PC on April 23, 2024. Surgent Studios’ title will feature both English and Swahili voice acting.
