Aonic launches Megabit as collaborative game publisher

[ad_1]

Aonic, a gaming and technology group, has unveiled Megabit as a new collaborative game publisher.

The publishing division is designed to champion high-quality mid-sized development studios. This move signals Aonic’s commitment to fostering collaboration within the gaming industry.

Aonic already has renowned studios such as Warren Spector’s Otherside Entertainment, Milkytea, Tiny Roar, BKOM, and more under its banner. Now Megabit will add third-party titles too.

Megabit is not just a publishing arm; it represents Aonic’s endeavor to provide a collaborative home for independent development studios. Benjie Clarke, assembling a top team from industry giants, has laid the foundation for Megabit to serve as an extension of Aonic’s mission.

The primary objective is to support studios without stifling their creativity, bridging the gap in the industry with a symbiotic relationship between developers and publishers.

Paul Schempp, CEO of Aonic, said in a statement, “Our approach to publishing offers our partners the skills and tools they need, without infringing on their creativity, resulting in a studio and publisher partnership that works hand-in-hand to bring only the best games to the market.”

Aonic owns four game studios such as Otherside Entertainment.

The Megabit publishing team, composed of industry veterans with a background in major franchises like FIFA, Payday, Tomb Raider, RuneScape, Elite, and CSR Racing, is gearing up for significant launches. Currently, Megabit has four games scheduled to launch in the next 18 months, with plans to reach a total of 10 games by the end of 2026.

Among these titles are highly anticipated projects like Thick as Thieves from Otherside Entertainment and the charming open-world adventure Lou’s Lagoon from Tiny Roar.

Aonic has experienced substantial growth, generating nearly €100 million in revenue in 2023, and it has 600 employees across seven game studios, two Adtech Platforms, and now, a dedicated publisher spanning Europe and North America.

The acquisitions of Otherside Entertainment, nDreams, and Tiny Roar in 2023 have positioned Aonic as a major player in the gaming industry.

Megabit is not only focusing on in-house projects but also aims to bring onboard third-party games for publishing in the near future. The announcement comes with a tease of exciting projects in a sizzle reel available on Megabit’s official website. Megabit is actively growing and they expect to have over a dozen team members by the end of the quarter.
